Red Bull head of aero Fallows to become Aston Martin tech boss

Red Bull's head of aerodynamics Dan Fallows will be moving to Aston Martin F1 where the Briton will assume the role of technical director for the Silverstone-based outfit.

A devoted and talented engineer who spent 15 years at Milton Keynes working alongside design guru Adrian Newey, Fallows was placed at the helm of Red Bull's aero department in 2014 and helped "shape thereafter the team's progress through the hybrid era and its rise to renewed competitiveness", the outfit stated.

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner paid tribute to Fallows contribution to the team's achievements since 2006.

"It goes without saying that Dan will be missed as he has played an important role during his time at Red Bull Racing and I would like to thank him for his contribution towards the Team’s successes," said Horner.

"We do however recognise that the chance to take on the role of Technical Director within a Formula One team is an appealing next step in his career.

"In turn, this move creates exciting internal progression opportunities as we look to the future and draw from the wealth of talent within the wider Team."

In Austria on Friday, Horner stated that Fallows would see out his current contract with the team, adding that the contract release won't be "for a couple of years".

"I'm not going to go into great detail, but it certainly won't be within the next couple of years," he said.

Aston Martin revealed on Thursday that it was set to appoint a new technical director following current tech boss Andy Green's promotion to chief technical officer.

Fallows' role as technical director will be part of Aston's three-pronged leadership structure that will also include Luca Furbatto as engineering director and Tom McCullough as performance director, with all three men answering to new CTO Andy Green.
