Verstappen won't take part in 'fake' Drive to Survive

Max Verstappen won't appear in the next season of 'Drive to Survive', the Dutchman refusing to lend his character to the popular Netflix series which he says, "fakes a lot of stuff".

Verstappen was voted F1's most popular driver by the fan community according to the results of a global survey released on Thursday.

But that won't help the producers of the next installment of 'Drive to Survive' convince the Red Bull driver to take part in the series, and he explained why.

"They faked a few rivalries which they don’t really exist," Verstappen told the Associated Press ahead of this weekend's US Grand prix in Austin.

"So I decided to not be a part of it and did not give any more interviews after that because then there is nothing you can show.

"I am not really a dramatic show kind of person, I just want facts and real things to happen."

Last year, Verstappen was critical of how he was portrayed in the first edition of the popular Netflix production.

"I understand that it needs to be done to boost the popularity in America," Verstappen told The Associated Press. "But from my side as a driver, I don’t like being part of it."

As the 2021 F1 season enters its final leg, with Verstappen and arch-rival Lewis Hamilton locked in a fierce battle for the title, 'Drive to Survive' production crews are on site and close to the action as they continue to put together Season 4 which will be released in February of next year.

Alas, they won't get up close and personal with Max.
