F1 freight delays won't impact Sao Paulo GP weekend

Formula 1 teams were experiencing freight delays in Sao Paulo this week, but the belated arrival of some equipment isn't expected to have a bearing on any outfit's race weekend.

On Wednesday, half of the F1 grid was still waiting for part of their cargo containers to arrive at Interlagos, according to Motorsport.com, a setback that meant that teams would likely be burning the midnight oil at the track later in the day.

"There were delays in freight departing Mexico on Monday due to the weather conditions, meaning some freight is still to arrive in Brazil," said a spokesman from F1 on Wednesday.

"We expect this to arrive tomorrow with no wider impact on the race weekend."

This weekend's round of racing in Brazil is the second event in a grueling triple-header that will conclude next week in Qatar.

However, F1 teams will be buried in work this weekend as the Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend will feature the sport's third and final Sprint Qualifying trial.

Friday's revised running schedule will therefore include a practice session at 12h30 pm local time and a qualifying session at 16h00.

On Saturday, teams will take to the track for final practice at 12h00 pm, while the afternoon's Sprint event will kick off at 16h30 local time. On Sunday, it will be lights out at 14h00 local time (17h00 BST - 18h00 CET – 12h00 EST).
