Haas showcases 2022 livery and design of VF-22

Haas has beaten its F1 rivals to launch season, with the US outfit revealing on Friday the "design and livery" of its 2022 contender, the VF-22.

The team's renders show the first F1 car designed to the sport's all-new 'ground effect' regulations, although the car Haas will roll out in pre-season testing is likely to be different to the design showcased in the images.

With its white, red and blue Uralkali and Russian theme, the VF-22's livery is a slight evolution from last year's machine. But the car's overall striking aerodynamic design is a logical departure from its predecessor, not to mention the introduction of 18-inch wheels that also contrast with past designs.

Haas Automation, the global CNC machine tool company founded by team owner Gene Haas, also maintains its prominent branding presence on the car.

"It’s that time of year where you’re naturally optimistic that the hard work and effort of everyone will translate to a competitive entry on track," said the American team owner.

"We made the decision back in 2020 to really channel time and resources into the VF-22, foregoing anything track-related for 2021 – which wasn’t easy to watch.

"Hopefully that decision bears fruit and we return to challenging for points and taking something from the weekends."

Haas all-new 2022 car is the first conceived by the team's new design department in Maranello overseen by the US outfit's Ferrari-affiliated technical director Simone Resta.

Haas' VF-22 will once again be entrusted to Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin who embark on the second campaign in F1.
"It’s exciting to be at the point where we know the VF-22 will be on-track shortly," said Guenther Steiner, Team Principal – Uralkali Haas F1 Team.

"We all know what the team is capable of, we’ve proved that in the past, and with this new car – born out of a completely new set of regulations and with our new design team in place, I’m confident we can showcase once again that we can compete on weekends.

"It’s been a tremendous effort by everyone involved and now comes the fun part of getting the new car to the circuit and dialing in all the elements.

"Last season was a long one but I’m confident that 2022 will see us back in the mix with the VF-22."
