McLaren running finished after Alonso accident

McLaren has confirmed it will not run again on the final day of the second pre-season test following Fernando Alonso’s accident.

The morning session was brought to an early end after Alonso had to be transported to the medical centre having hit the wall between turns 3 and 4. The right hand side of the McLaren was damaged in the incident as it ran along the wall.

Alonso was airlifted to hospital for precautionary checks, where he underwent a CT scan with results saying he was uninjured in the crash. However, with the car damaged McLaren said it would not be running again on Sunday.

Jenson Button had been scheduled to drive the MP4-30 on Sunday afternoon having been limited in his running on both Thursday and Saturday, but he will now go in to the final test - starting on Thursday - with just 86 laps under his belt in total in the 2015 car.
