Red Bull reveals $6 million Newey-penned Hypercar

Red Bull has sprung a surprise on the automotive world with its plan to build 50 examples of a track-only hypercar that will be priced for well-heeled owners at £5 million or approximately $6.2 million!

Penned by design guru Adrian Newey and developed by the F1 team's engineering unit, Red Bull Advanced Engineering, the ground-effect car will be powered by a 1,100 hp V8 hybrid power unit, the source of which is not yet known.

The two-seat beast has received the name 'RB17' in reference to the missing chassis number in Red Bull's lineage of F1 cars, with the team's nomenclature going from RB16B in 2021 to this year's RB18.

Potential owners will be happy to know that will get more bang for their mega buck than just a hypercar, with Red Bull including access to the Red Bull's simulator, vehicle program development and on-track training and experiences.

"The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus," said Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

"Further, the RB17 marks the first time that a car wearing the Red Bull brand has been available to collectors."

"The RB17 distills everything we know about creating championship-winning Formula 1 cars into a package that delivers extreme levels of performance in a two-seat track car," added Newey who oversaw the design and development of Red Bull's Valkyrie produced by Aston Martin.

"Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes design and technical boundaries far beyond what has been previously available to enthusiasts and collectors."
