Fernando Alonso says his current focus is on Alpine's upcoming three races after which the Spaniard will take the time to sit down and discuss his F1 future with the Enstone squad.
Alonso will turn 41 at the end of July, but the F1 veteran is keen to extend his partnership with Alpine after his contract with the team expires at the end of this year.
"So far, we didn't really start any negotiations," Alonso said at Silverstone where he provided an update on his contract talks.
"My aim, as I've said, is to continue. But until the summer break, I want to concentrate this July.
"We have [three] races and I need to score points because the first nine races have been a little bit unlucky for me."
Alonso's opening stint this season was indeed marked by bad luck and reliability issues. But since his home race in Barcelona , the Alpine charger has scored consecutive top-ten finishes, achieving his best result year-to-date in last weekend's British Grand Prix where he finished fifth.
Alpine team boss Otmar Szafnauer confirmed team and driver's timetable for their sit-down.
"We haven't really started talking in detail with Fernando yet, but you know now that I'm sure we'll do that just after the break," Szafnauer said.
Currently, all predictions point to Alonso remaining at least another season alongside Esteban Ocon at Alpine, while the French outfit's highly rated reserve driver, Oscar Piastri, who is expected to take Alonso's seat at some point in the future, is expected to serve his apprenticeship in F1 with Williams in 2023.
