Red Bull hands fans a blank canvas for US race liveries

Red Bull has announced that it's giving fans the chance to design the RB19 race car liveries for each of the Miami, Austin and Las Vegas races in 2023.

The news came at the teams' official season launch event held in New York City on Friday, which revealed a very familiar look to the car for the other 20 races of the season.

But as a celebration of Formula 1's growing popularity in the United States, team principal Christian Horner unveiled a 'Make Your Mark' competition when it comes to the three American Grands Prix.

"For the three US races that we have this year, for the first time ever, we're going to get the fans involved to create the livery for those three races," he continued.

"It's going to be a competition," he added. "It's a huge opportunity and we've thought long and hard about it. We know it's what people want to see - to get involved - and this is your chance to be able to do that.

"This is very much about getting the fans involved in the design and look of the car," Horner said, explaining that submissions would be judged by a panel before the winner was announced.

"There'll be then a panel of judges and we'll pick out the best and most striking ones for these three races."

Red Bull raced in the Turkish GP in 2021 with a special Honda tribute livery.

First up is the Miami GP in May and the competition for that race will open up to submissions from today, with Horner saying that he hoped fans could "come up with some interesting liveries" for the weekend.

Red Bull previously sported a one-off white livery for the 2021 Turkish GP in honour of outgoing engine partner Honda, whose official partnership with the team came to an end at the conclusion of that season.

In the past, the team has also raced with a one-off patchwork designs with pictures of fans incorporated in it, as part of a fund-raising initiative for its charity partner, Wings for Life.
