Kubica to join AF Corse for 2024 Ferrari customer Hypercar effort

Robert Kubica will step up to the World Endurance Championship’s top category in 2024, the Polish driver joining a customer Hypercar Ferrari team run by AF Corse.

In addition to running the Ferrari factory’s 499P machines, AF Corse will enter a third car next season under the banner of its customer, in line with WEC rules that limit a manufacturer’s entries to two cars.

In a statement released on Wednesday, AF Corse said that its relationship with Kubica as well as the identity of its customer will likely be reveled “in the coming weeks”.

AF Corse boss Amato Ferrari said that welcoming “a driver of the calibre” of Kubica to his outfit was “ a great honour”.

He added that the former F1 driver’s “talent and great professionalism will bring new added value to our team”.

Kubica, who won this year’s LMP2 title in the WEC alongside Louis Deletraz and Rui Andrade with Belgian outfit Team WRT, is equally delighted to be able to showcase his skills next season in the FIA Hypercar Championship after three years in LMP2.

“I’m happy that my path and the path of AF Corse will be the same next season,” he said.

“AF is one of the most successful teams ever in motorsport: I’m sure we’ll do a great job together. What’s more, I’m back in an Italian team, which is no small matter.”
