Williams has confirmed that Logan Sargeant will continue to drive for the British outfit in 2023 alongside Alex Albon.

Sargeant's debut season in Formula 1 with Williams was a challenging one, marked by a steep learning curve and adaptation to the demands of the sport's pinnacle.

Despite entering the season with reasonably good expectations due to his strong track record in the junior ranks, Sargeant faced a difficult start, struggling to match the pace of his teammate, Alex Albon, and making several costly mistakes throughout the season.

The 22-year-old nevertheless became the first American to score a championship point in F1 in 30 years. It’s worth noting however that Sargeant owed this milestone accomplishment to the disqualifications of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at the US Grand Prix.

But despite his lacklustre campaign, Williams’ insight into Sargeant’s performances has convinced the Grove-based squad that the American is worthy of a second campaign with the team.

Williams stated that Sargeant “demonstrated the fundamental speed required to perform at the highest level, building on these foundations race by race, solidifying his place in the Williams Racing line-up”.

"I am pleased to continue our journey with Logan into the 2024 season,” commented Williams team principal James Vowles.

“Logan has demonstrated immense skill whilst under the pressure of the world stage, making him a perfect fit for our team.

“We have great confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve even greater success in the upcoming season.”

Sargeant was obviously “thrilled to be continuing with Williams Racing for the 2024 season”.

“It has been an incredible journey with the team so far, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as a driver within such a talented and dedicated group,” added Sargeant

“We have exciting plans for the future, and I can't wait to contribute to the team's success in the coming year."

Sargeant's confirmation means that F1's field of 20 drivers will begin its 2024 campaign in Bahrain on March 2 absolutely unchanged from last weekend's Abu Dhabi GP. A first in the history of F1.
