Alpine has confirmed that it has entered into a multi-year power unit and gearbox supply agreement with Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains.
This partnership between the two companies marks a departure from Alpine's original plan to develop its own power unit at Renault’s dedicated Viry-Châtillon engine facility.
The deal also involves the adoption of Mercedes gearboxes, streamlining the integration process and optimizing the overall performance of the Alpine car.
With the help of Mercedes’ cutting-edge technology, the strategic alliance carries the hope that Alpine can become a strong contender in the 2026 season and beyond.
“Alpine and Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains, and Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix have entered into power unit and gearbox agreements from the start of the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship,” read a short statement from Alpine.
“The multi-year agreement will see Mercedes-Benz supply Alpine with power units for the duration of the new regulation era, from 2026 until at least 2030.
“Alongside the power unit, Alpine will also be supplied with Mercedes gearboxes from the 2026 season.
"The team remains focused on performing in the strongest way possible in the 2024 and 2025 seasons."

The new supply deal will not extend the capacity of Mercedes’ engine department at Brixworth, as Alpine will simply take over the power unit quota previously allocated to Aston Martin, with the latter transitioning to Honda hardware from 2026.
McLaren, Williams and the works Mercedes team itself will continue to be powered by the German manufacturer’s engines.
