Felipe Drugovich, currently Aston Martin’s Formula 1 reserve driver, is reportedly set to make the move to Formula E, joining Andretti Global for the 2025-2026 season.
According to The Race, a deal between the talented Brazilian driver and Andretti is expected to be officially confirmed this week, with Swiss Nico Mueller leaving the Porsche-powered team.
Drugovich has been part of the F1 paddock since 2023, taking part in FP1 sessions and test outings for Aston Martin. Unfortunately, despite his proximity to the sport’s top tier, a full F1 race debut has so far eluded the 25-year-old.
His closest opportunities came at the start of the 2023 season and ahead of the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, when questions arose over Lance Stroll’s fitness, but on both occasions, Stroll recovered in time.
With a potential F1 seat with Cadillac becoming unavailable following the new team’s decision to sign Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas for 2026, Drugovich appears ready to embrace the all-electric championship.
The move also represents a long-awaited chance for the 2022 Formula 2 champion to race full-time while leveraging his experience within the F1 ecosystem.
Drugovich is not new to Formula E. He first tested in the Berlin rookie sessions with Maserati in April 2023 and made his competitive debut with Mahindra in Berlin earlier this year, stepping in for Nyck de Vries.
Over his two outings, he finished 17th and 7th, gaining firsthand insight into the demands of the series.
Alongside his reserve role at Aston Martin in F1, Drugovich has remained active in other series, including a campaign in the European Le Mans Series last year. The transition to Formula E offers him a new platform to showcase his talent and build a full-time racing career.
Andretti reportedly conducted testing last week with the Porsche Gen3Evo manufacturer car, but only regular driver Jake Dennis took part in the session held at the Ales-Cervennes circuit in France.
Drugovich is expected to make his first appearance as an Andretti driver at the pre-season test in Valencia in late October, ahead of the season-opening round in Sao Paulo in early December.
