Daniil Kvyat says "it can only get better" for Red Bull after he failed to start the Australian Grand Prix.

The race in Melbourne should have marked Kvyat's Red Bull race debut having moved up from Toro Rosso at the end of 2014. However, a gearbox problem on the way to the grid saw Kvyat have to pull off the track as he was reduced to a watching brief, but he is philosophical about the setback.

“I had to stop on the way to the grid as we had a problem; I think it was something to do with the gearbox," Kvyat said. "Obviously it’s not a nice feeling to watch the other drivers on track while you are here.
"From now on, it can only get better so we are staying positive. I have confidence in the team. We have another race in two weeks and will be pushing as hard as we can ahead of that.”
Team-mate Daniel Ricciardo could only finish sixth in the race, with team principal Christian Horner calling on the FIA to rein in Mercedes after it won by over 30 seconds.
