Alonso enjoys ‘good day’ in McLaren simulator

Fernando Alonso enjoyed a positive day of training at the McLaren Technology Centre as the two-time world champion had a successful session in the team’s simulator.

A tweet issued on McLaren’s official feed read that Alonso has conducted operational work and focussed on practicing qualifying and race procedures as he continues to target a return behind the wheel for the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Spaniard was forced to miss the traditional Melbourne’s season-opener after he suffered concussion in a pre-season testing crash at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in late February.

Alonso was replaced by McLaren reserve driver Kevin Magnussen who experienced a tough weekend around the Albert Park Circuit.

Indeed, the 22-year-old Dane crashed in FP2 and could not even start the race when his engine hit trouble on his way to the grid.

McLaren is yet to announce officially who will partner Jenson Button in the other MP4-30 at Sepang.
