Sauber 2017 F1 car to make track debut in filming day

Sauber’s 2017 Formula 1 car will make its track debut during a filming day held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on February 22, according to Motorsport.com.

The Swiss outfit is coming off a challenging 2016 campaign that saw it leapfrog Manor for the all-important 10th-place finish in the Constructors’ standings at the penultimate race.

However, after years of financial turmoil, Sauber’s long-term F1 future has been secured following fresh investment from Longbow Finance last summer.

Although the Hinwill-based team will race year-old Ferrari power units in 2017, it will be able to run its C36 from the opening day of pre-season testing, which starts on February 27 at the Spanish Grand Prix venue.

Last year, Sauber had to delay the launch of its 2016-spec challenger as it could not build the chassis in time for the first winter test.

The Swiss team's 2017 driver line-up includes Marcus Ericsson, who returns for a third consecutive season, and Pascal Wehrlein, with the Mercedes junior moving across from Manor after a strong rookie campaign.

Here is a recap of all the 2017 F1 car launch dates that have already been announced.

Renault: February 21
Force India: February 22
Sauber: February 22
Mercedes: February 23
Ferrari: February 24
McLaren-Honda: February 24
