Fernando Alonso's lucrative career in Formula 1 has brought him into the top 200 list of Spain's richest, according to El Mundo.
Alonso's personal net worth is valued at approximately €200m, which also makes the McLaren driver the country's wealthiest sportsman, edging out tennis player Rafael Nadal.
Surprisingly, both men just barely made it on to the list, ranking 197 and 198 respectively.
It's always been estimated that the two-time world champion is one of the highest paid drivers on the grid. And his income was probably boosted another notch when he joined McLaren-Honda two years ago. Unless his salary is pegged to a performance clause, which we doubt.
In case you're wondering, Spain's richest man is the founder of fashion group Inditex, Amancio Ortega, who has an estimated net worth of €67.7 billion, making him the 2nd wealthiest man on earth.
Still a way to go for Fernando...
