Ferrari reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi may get the opportunity to show his skills in a few Friday free practice sessions this year.
The 2016 GP2 series runner-up is often labeled as Italy's brightest talent and as such, has been inducted into the Scuderia's stable, and entrusted with simulator work.
Interestingly, the young hopeful was in attendance at an official Alfa Romeo presentation of its Stelvio road car.
"Alfa is a myth, a great Italian brand, and it excites me a lot to be here," said the 23-year-old, who made his official debut as a Ferrari driver at Fiorano two weeks ago during a data acquisition FIA-approved test.
"For now I'm building up my experience in the simulator," he added, referring to the preparations for his Ferrari reserve and testing role this year.
Asked if his work and allegiance to Ferrari could lead to a few Friday practice outings this season with the Ferrari-powered Sauber team, Giovinazzi would neither deny or confirm the possibility.
"For now I just want to enjoy this beautiful moment."
