Perez frustrated by early Force India form

Sergio Perez admits he is frustrated to be waiting for Force India’s B-spec car as the team will continue to struggle to score points in the early races of the season.

Force India launched its 2015 car during the final pre-season test due to delays with suppliers, with the team opting for a conservative design as a result. Deputy team principal Bob Fernley has already revealed there will be a B-spec car later in the season, but Perez is frustrated by the current level of competitiveness.

“Obviously it is really frustrating not to be able to have a competitive car that can bring you in to the points with pure pace,” Perez said. “That makes things really hard, but it doesn’t really change anything as a driver. You have got to give it your best possible shot weekend after weekend.

“Obviously we are in a position where it is very easy to make mistakes, to lose the car as the car is very difficult with degradation and stuff. So I think from now on we are going to have hard races but it is what it is at the moment.”

And Perez also concedes it is tough to keep himself motivated when the car is clearly lacking performance compared to Force India’s rivals.

“It is really hard to keep motivated, going in to a race knowing it is going to be very hard to do any advantage. It’s not the easiest position as a driver but you have got to be professional and you have to do the job as if you’re going to win the race.”
