Is sky blue the limit for Toro Rosso's 2017 livery?

The future might be orange at McLaren, but it's believed that there could also be change afoot for Toro Rosso with speculation that this year's STR12 chassis could also be sporting a striking new look in 2017.

According to the publication Auto Motor und Sport, the junior Red Bull team will be sporting a much lighter colour palette than in the previous ten seasons to date which have seen little change to the design.

Social media was awash with this photoshopped example of what the new car might look like if they seek a livery closer to the light blue look-and-feel of the suger-free version of Red Bull's energy drink rather than its traditional dark blue, red and purple colours.

The change in colours could also be related to the as-yet unannounced new engine branding that the team is planning for 2018.

Toro Rosso will be presenting its new Formula One car on the eve of the first day of the 2017 pre-season test, with the unveiling taking place in the pit lane at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on February 26 .

Until then the team is keeping things strictly under wraps, although the team is happy to tease fans with this short promotional video which sees Daniil Kvyat promise a sneak peak at the new cars.

However he gets no further than showing the car carefully covered up at the team's headquarters, with a team member pouncing on the young Russian the minute that he seeks to pull back the sheets!
