On the eve of his sixth full season of F1, Haas' Romain Grosjean is paired with a man he doesn't know very well but someone he believes will help the US outfit move forward.
The 30-year-old Frenchman and team mate Kevin Magnussen will spearhead Haas' efforts in just its second season of Formula 1, and the two will start their working relationship in Barcelona next week.
"Testing is going to be key for the team, and that’s where we’re going to share the most," explained Grosjean.
"On the racetrack you always want to beat your teammate. He’s got the same car as you, so he’s your benchmark.
"On the other hand, from every team I’ve been with so far, the data and everything has been open and that works pretty well, especially for a new team and especially with a new car."
Despite his 'veteran' status, Grosjean believes the quality of the Dane's experience in F1 will prove an asset to the team.
"It’s going to be great to have him on board. He brings good experience from McLaren and Renault that’ll be very valuable.
" I don’t know him very well for now, but I’m sure after winter testing and the first few races that won’t be the case anymore and we’ll get along well."
