Porsche unveils iconic Le Mans livery for London title fight

Dressed in a striking throw-back to iconic motorsport royalty, the Porsche Formula E Team has unveiled a special one-off livery for this weekend’s Season 12 showdown at the London E-Prix.

Swapping its usual modern accents for evocative white, blue, and gold racing stripes, the 99X Electric channels the legendary Rothmans design made famous by the Le Mans-dominating works Porsche 956.

That iconic machine famously swept the podium at La Sarthe in 1982 behind Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell before clinching three more wins in the classic endurance event. And Porsche now hopes a taste of that Group C magic will spark similar glory under the lights of ExCeL London.

Fresh off securing the Manufacturers’ World Championship in Tokyo, the manufacture arrives in the UK aiming for a complete title sweep.

Leading the charge is Pascal Wehrlein, sitting just five points adrift of championship leader Jake Dennis. Backed by teammate Nico Mueller, Wehrlein is no stranger to dramatic finale heroics in London, having clinched his driver's crown here before.

"Before the season, our goal was to arrive in London fighting for the titles," said Wehrlein. "We have already won the Manufacturers’ World Championship. Now we will give everything to secure more titles."

Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
