He was again a tick slower than the Hulk in qualifying, but the German’s gearbox penalty was a big help in the race. He put in a fantastic get away, and had the upper hand in two eye opening battles with the Red Bulls. If not for traffic after his stop, Sainz could’ve battled Pérez for the podium. P5 is the best result for Renault since its return as a factory team.
