Alexander Albon (P6, 8 pts): 8/10
The heat of Friday's practice sessions hadn't done Toro Rosso any favours, with both Alexander Albon and Daniil Kvyat seemingly struggling for pace. Then again, neither driver looked any faster in the cooler conditions of Saturday morning either. Albon came out top in FP3 but when it came to qualifying he found himself eliminated at the end of Q1 after running up perilously close to the back of Lando Norris on his final push lap. It meant he started the race from 17th place on the grid, but the inclement weather helped him make strong progress over the opening laps and by lap eight he was into the top ten despite making an early pit stop along the way. From there it was pretty much forward progress all afternoon, the only significant retrograde step coming on lap 46 when his final pit stop for soft tyres briefly dropped him back to 13th. But others still had to make the same call and so Albon was soon back up to sixth, and he survived a clumsy late challenge from Pierre Gasly to secure his best finish in Formula 1 so far. It's just a shame that he was rather comprehensively outshone by Kvyat on the day...
