Lando Norris, McLaren (P2) 7/10

It was an uncomfortable weekend for Norris overall in China, despite securing a one-two for McLaren. He made quite a few mistakes during Sprint Qualifying, and endured vehicular issues in the Sprint itself, finishing in eighth. His struggles continued in main Qualifying but he managed to somewhat get the hang of things to claim a second row start. Norris started well by snatching P2 from Russell through the first corner, but his good work was undone by a late pitstop which allowed the Mercedes driver back through. The Briton retook second on lap 18, and looked set for a relaxed P2 finish before a critical issue with the brake pedal threatened to derail his race entirely. He managed to nurse his McLaren to the line just ahead of a chasing Russell.

Oscar Piastri, McLaren (P1) 10/10

Piastri converted his first ever Grand Prix pole position into his third ever race victory, and it never looked in doubt for the Australian from the word go. The 23-year-old maintained the lead in the opening stages of the race, and only relinquished P1 for a few laps when he pitted for fresh rubber on lap 15. Norris was never able to close the gap to his McLaren teammate, with Piastri not putting a single foot wrong and winning his first race of the 2025 season, making up for a disappointing home Grand Prix the previous weekend.
