Fernando Alonso says he is not regretting his move to McLaren despite retiring from the last three races.
Sunday's retirement from the Canadian Grand Prix marks the first time Alonso has failed to finish three consecutive grands prix since his first season racing for Minardi. The Spaniard even complained of being made to "look like an amateur driver" in Montreal such was McLaren's lack of pace compared to the other cars due to the Honda power deficit.
However, asked if he is starting to regret his move to McLaren, Alonso replied: "No definitely not.
"I was here for five years talking to you about finishing third, fourth or fifth and that was a lot of frustration. To beat Mercedes you have to do something unique and different and I believe in this project.
"All the things I see for the future make sense and the programme for developing the car feels quite positive. I know that this is a difficult time for our fans, but they need to believe because something good is coming."
