Red Bull pairing ’the best we’ve ever had’ - Horner

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says the current driver pairing of Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat enjoys the best working partnership he has seen.

While David Coulthard drove for the team alongside first Christian Klien and Vitantonio Liuzzi before being joined by Mark Webber, Red Bull only became challengers for race victories in 2009 at the start of Webber’s infamous pairing with Sebastian Vettel. Following Webber’s retirement from F1, Vettel was joined by Ricciardo last season and the two enjoyed a good relationship despite Ricciardo having the upper hand.

However, with Kvyat and Ricciardo closely matched this season, Horner told F1i the two drivers are working better together than any team-mates he has worked with in the past.

“The drivers are very straightforward,” Horner said. “The relationships we have with our drivers are very straightforward, the way they are working together as a team is the best we’ve ever had. Feedback is exceptional and I’m very, very happy with the current driver pairing that we have.”

Ricciardo has been linked with a move to Ferrari but Horner says the Australian has an “absolutely” watertight contract which will ensure he is still with the team in 2016.
