Nico Rosberg has announced he has become a father after his wife Vivian gave birth to a baby girl.

Rosberg left last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix soon after the race with the baby's due date having passed, but tweeted a picture on Wednesday last week with the hashtag #NoNews as the wait continued. However, the Mercedes driver took to Twitter this morning to confirm the arrival of his daughter on Sunday.

"Our full moon baby girl was born yesterday afternoon," Rosberg tweeted. "We are overwhelmed and totally in love. Best wishes, V + N."

Rosberg also posted a message of thanks to the team at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco. He is now one of a number of fathers currently racing in F1, with Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado all becoming dads over the last few years, while Felipe Massa also has a young son.

Congratulations to the Rosberg family from all at F1i. Here's hoping Nico heeded Grosjean's warning from the post-race press conference at Spa...

“Sleep as much as you can while the baby’s not here!" Grosjean said. "It’s going to get bad!”
