Daniel Ricciardo salvaged a remarkable result from this afternoon's Italian Grand Prix after starting at the back, fighting his way up and putting on some good moves along the way.
The Australian landed his Red Bull in 8th place at the finish after overtaking Marcus Ericsson's Sauber on the ultimate round.
"For an 8th place finish I'm as excited as someone can get," commented Ricciardo.
"It's like a podium for us. The circuit didn't suit us, and not only starting from the back but charging through to get some solid points, we're really happy. It was also sweet taking that eighth place from Ericsson on the last lap and on the last corner."
Monza was never a venue where Red Bull was expecting a solid performance, so clinching points with both drivers was an extra bonus for the Milton Keynes outfit.
"I am very happy with the chassis, the car was handling really well, and we were able to fight with a Ferrari and a Mercedes-powered car on a track where we lost out a lot on the straights," concluded the smiling Aussie.
"It wasn't an easy weekend for us, but I think the race was positive and the energy in the team is good. I will probably celebrate with one more pizza."
