Billy Monger back on the grid next weekend with Carlin!

Less than twelve months after his horrific life-threatening crash in British F4 at Donington, Billy Monger will be returning to racing next weekend.

The 18-year-old who lost both legs a year ago has sealed a deal with Carlin to race in the BRDC British Formula 3 series which kicks off at Oulton Park.

Monger surmounted the pain and suffering on his road to recovery, never turning away from motorsport or his dream of racing once again despite the odds and adversity.

Extensive testing behind the wheel of Carlin's specially modified machine validated his ability to race, along with a special dispensation.

The young driver operates his car by using a paddle on the steering wheel to accelerate while his right stump operates a special brake pedal.

"He [Monger] will absolutely be on the grid this weekend," said a Carlin spokesperson.

"It’s absolutely incredible to have him back on the gird. He helps motivate the team, he is competitive as well and has the potential to do a lot more.

"We want to be able to help him achieve his potential."
