Villeneuve delivers his verdict on who is the better Red Bull driver

Jacques Villeneuve's views are anything but relevant but they are often entertaining, and now the 1997 world champion gives us his two cents on Red Bull's drivers.

Predictably, Max Verstappen doesn't get the Canadian pundit's vote, the Dutchman criticized for his propensity to error.

"Verstappen makes mistakes in every race. It happens all the time," Villeneuve told Sky Italia.

"It's a bad sign. For example, Ricciardo was not at all to blame for their crash in Baku. He did nothing wrong."

In the former drivers' book, Ricciardo is judged as the better driver at Red Bull Racing, hands down

"If a driver is constantly making mistakes, he must calm down and slow down. But to be at Ricciardo's level, he has to take more risks," adds the 11-time Grand Prix winner.

"It can only mean one thing: Max is not as good as Daniel. Full stop!"

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
