The FIA has revealed that Max Verstappen will be using a new Red Bull Racing RB15 chassis for the remainder of the Australian Grand Prix weekend.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit submitted its scrutineering form to FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer for approval, but no conformity issues are expected.

Red Bull did not specify the reasons for the chassis change, but it is believed that a fuel-tank issue was the reason for the swap, as building up a new car is a faster process than replacing the tank itself.

Verstappen concluded Saturday morning's FP3 session in P9.

The governing body also announced that the has team had used the first of its two authorized curfew jokers, with the US outfit's crews working through the night on Romain Grosjean's car to repair an oil leak.

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
