Piero Ferrari hints at 'completely redesigned' 2020 car

Ferrari's 2020 contender will be a "completely redesigned" car according to the Italian manufacturer's vice chairman Piero Ferrari.

The House of Maranello will unveil its latest prancing horse on Tuesday afternoon at the prestigious Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia in the north of the country.

Following a season in which the Scuderia fell short once again of its hopes of finally overcoming the supremacy of arch-rival Mercedes.

While the SF90 proved fast as a bullet in a straight line, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc struggled in the corners where the car was no match for the Silver Arrows team's W10.

Formula 1's regulations are unchanged for 2020, but that hasn't kept the Italian outfit from fielding an entirely new car according to the son of Enzo Ferrari.

"This year the car has been completely redesigned," Ferrari told the Italian media.

"We hope we have done everything possible to eliminate the problems of last year. I think a good job has been done, we have good hopes."

There's been a fair amount of speculation surrounding the name of the Scuderia's 2020 car, with pundits predicting an SF1000 appellation in honour of the team reaching its 1000th Grand Prix this season.

The guessing game has been just as intense regarding the cars' livery, with La Gazzetta dello Sport predicting a design that could include the presence of the 'Tricolore' , Italy's national flag.
