Romain Grosjean wants the French Grand Prix to return to the F1 calendar but does not mind the sport targeting new regions.
This year's calendar is set to see a record 21 races take place after the return of the German Grand Prix and the addition of a new race in Azerbaijan. With the Mexican Grand Prix returning after a 23-year absence last season, Grosjean says another venue he would like to see back on the calendar is Magny Cours.
"I think it was really great [in 2015] to see Mexico was a very warm welcome from all the fans, it was an awesome weekend," Grosjean said. "I would like to see Magny Cours back on the calendar, it would be the French Grand Prix, unique for me. Paris? The traffic is not so good. I would like a French Grand Prix.
"In an ideal world you would like to do all of them but it’s not possible so I think we follow the calendar, we like discovering new places but going to Silverstone or in Germany or Barcelona is always quite special."
Magne Cours last hosted the French Grand Prix in 2008 and has since improved access to the circuit as it worked on being eligible for a potential return in future. The circuit also hosted a Young Driver Test in 2012.
