Formula 1's team bosses have cast their vote for the sport's top-10 drivers of 2020, and the final tally unsurprisingly consecrates this year's world champion, the inevitable Mr. Hamilton.
Team principals were asked to attribute a score to their ten favourite drivers based on F1's points system, with their top name receiving 25 points.
The vote was anonymous unfortunately, so we won't know who voted how much for whom. But the points total was nevertheless compiled to form a ranking that was logically topped by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen was runner-up to the Briton in the ranking despite finishing third behind Valtteri Bottas in the drivers' standings.
Ferrari endured a dismal season but it apparently took nothing away from Charles Leclerc's merits, the Monegasque securing third in the team bosses' vote.
Renault's Daniel Ricciardo who will move on the McLaren next season clocked in fourth, or one spot higher than his final position in the world championship. A favorite with F1's fans, the Aussie's talent remains a sure value in the eyes of F1's team principals.
Sergio Perez solid season and his outstanding win at Sakhir in the penultimate round of the season warranted a P5 in the pecking order, although that’s' one position behind where the Mexican's closing position in the championship.
Williams' George Russell spent most of the season fighting in the lower tier of the field, but his remarkable performance in the sakhir GP with Mercedes deservedly propped him up to P6 in F1's top-10.
Lando Norris interestingly outscored his McLaren teammate Carlos Sainz despite the Spaniard doing the opposite in the drivers' standings.
Finally, Valtteri Bottas and Pierre Gasly closed out the field. The result could interpreted as a bit unflattering for the Finn, a two-time winner this season with Mercedes and the championship's official runner-up.
One will note the absence, although predictable, of Sebastian Vettel among the top-ten. The four-time world champion will have work to do next season to convince F1's team bosses that he'll deserve a higher score in their rankings this time next year.
