Renault chairman Carlos Ghosn is adamant that Mercedes' supremacy in Formula 1 will end.
Ghosn, who has committed the French manufacturer to a nine-year presence in Grand Prix racing, believes the sport has always endured cycles of dominance but when the winds of change set in, the cycle is broken.
"Three years ago, Red Bull was dominant for five years, and people said 'oh my god what is going to happen?' Change comes," Ghosn said.
"You will continue to have changes. At the end of the day it is about technology, it is about people, drivers, coaches, technicians – so don't expect anything to be forever.
"There is a beginning and an end for everything and we will be very happy to participate in this uncertainty about victories in F1."
The Brazilian manager has conceded that it will take two to three years for the French outfit to become a consistent challenger for an F1 podium.
"We are not here to participate, we are here to compete at the highest level and eventually win.
"We want to get to the point where every time a race starts, Renault is a contender - that is our objective."
