Stewards investigating 11 drivers after Austrian GP

FIA race stewards at the Red Bull Ring have summoned 11 drivers to see them about incidents that took place late in the Austrian Grand Prix.

The main focus is an incident that took place on the final lap when Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel collided at turn 5 and ended up in the gravel.

Vettel subsequently said that it “must have been a misunderstanding” and added that “there was no intention from either side" but stewards will nonetheless review the contact.

Neither driver were on course to finish in the points. However the clash triggered a yellow flag on the track, which five drivers who did finish in the top ten may not have reacted to as required by the rules.

Carlos Sainz, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly are all under review for failing to slow sufficiently as they passed the crash scene and not respecting the double-waved yellow flags

Three more drivers who finished further down - Antonio Giovinazzi, Nicholas Latifi and Nikita Mazepin - are also under review for the same alleged breach.

And George Russell who finished in 11th place has also been called to explain his actions at the end of the race for “alleged moving under braking” at turn four while defending from Raikkonen whose role is also under review.

With a long line forming outside the stewards' office it looks like it will be a long wait before the final classification for today's race is confirmed.

It's already been a busy day for the race stewards, who handed down multiple penalties during the race including two for Perez for for separate incidents in which he forced Leclerc off the track.

Norris was also handed a five second penalty for a similar move on Perez during the restart following Esteban Ocon's retirement.

He's also been given a two point penalty on his F1 superlicence which puts him on a total of ten, two away from a mandatory one-race automatic ban. However two of those points will expire and be taken off prior to the next race in Britain.

Antonio Giovinazzi was penalised for overtaking behind the safety car when he choose to pit during the same caution period.

And AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda was also the recipient of multiple penalties in the race for twice crossing the blend line at pit entry on his way on to making his two stops.

Finally, Aston Martin's Lance Stroll was sanctioned for the classic offence of speeding on pit lane during his own scheduled stop.
