Formula 1 has announced that it has extended its contract with the Chinese Grand Prix until 2025 despite a three-year hiatus for the Shanghai event.
The race was cancelled in 2020 and in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and hasn't been included on Formula 1's provisional 2022 schedule.
But Formula 1 which first raced in China in 2004 will return to China in 2023.
"This is great news for all of our fans in China and we are delighted to announce this agreement that will see us racing in Shanghai until 2025," F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali said in a statement.
"Our partnership with the promoter Juss Sports is incredibly strong and we look forward to continuing our long-term partnership.
"China will be restored to the calendar as soon as conditions allow and we look forward to being back with the fans as soon as we can."
Grand Prix racing is set for a record 23-race schedule next season that should see the return of Australia, Singapour and Japan.
The 2022 campaign is due to kick off in Bahrain on March 20.
