Rosberg expects to be at Mercedes 'for some time to come'

Nico Rosberg insists he will remain at Mercedes "for some time to come" despite having yet to sign a new contract with the team.

It is understood that Rosberg's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff saying there would be no negotiations over any extension until the summer. After winning the first two races of the season, Rosberg cryptically hinted his contract may not expire at the end of the year but insists he expects to remain at Mercedes either way.

"First of all that is not necessarily the case," Rosberg said when asked about his contract being up at the end of the season. "And secondly the contract is not something that is present in my mind at the moment. Why should it be?

"I am very comfortable anyway here. We have a great relationship and I will be here for some time to come for sure. And that is it. It is not something that is on my mind."

After winning his fifth race in a row, Rosberg says he has not adapted the way he approaches each weekend having the better of team-mate Lewis Hamilton in every race since the Briton won last year's world championship.

"I have not changed my approach in anyway. I was flat out last year and it didn’t go my way often, and now in the first two races it has gone much more my way. That is it. There is no difference in me that way."
