Management ‘working hard’ to secure Haryanto seat

Formula One rookie Rio Haryanto says his management is currently “working hard” to secure his Manor seat for the entire 2016 season.

The 23-year-old received help from the Indonesian government to outbid the likes of Alexander Rossi and Will Stevens for the final spot on the grid. Haryanto’s seat is reportedly only safe until the British GP, though his Manor spell can be extended depending the results of a crowd-funding campaign launched in his home country.

“I hope that I can be here for the full season,” he is quoted as saying by GPUPdate.net when quizzed on his contractual situation.

“There are some rumours that I'm only going to do half of the season at Manor, but at the moment my management are working very hard to get the full season.”

With his F1 future still unsure, Haryanto says he can only focus on challenging his highly-touted team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, something the Indonesian has been acquitting himself quite well with since the start of the season.

“I’ve just got to do my best, drive the car as quickly as possible and work with the team well.

“I still believe there is a lot more to come, and to be able to compete with Pascal, and to match him, is a good reference, so I'll just try to keep it up and be slightly quicker again.”
