Lewis Hamilton set the pace in the opening practice session, leading a Mercedes one-two by over 0.3s. However, Ferrari and Red Bull both looked competitive, with Max Verstappen fourth fastest despite spending the whole session on the soft tyre - the hardest compound available this weekend.

Force India also looks strong with both cars in the top ten in FP1, while Williams was unable to show its full potential as Felipe Massa crashed heavily during the early stage of the session due to a DRS problem.

Friday's running could be rendered irrelevant during the rest of the weekend due to an unsettled weather forecast, but for the likes of Ferrari and Honda - both running updated turbos - the track running in sunny conditions will still prove important this afternoon.

FP2 gets underway at 2pm local time (7pm BST). We'll be bringing you all the news and information from trackside as it happens on F1i's live page.
