Ferrari will target wins in every race - Vettel

Sebastian Vettel says Ferrari's target will remain to win every remaining race this season, despite having yet to do so in 2016.

Last year's Malaysian Grand Prix marked Vettel's first win since joining Ferrari, with two further wins following in a competitive year for the team. However, this season has seen Mercedes increase its dominance, with Max Verstappen's victory in the Spanish Grand Prix the only time either Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg has failed to win.

Vettel's best chance appeared to be the Singapore Grand Prix, with the German impressing as he climbed through the field from last on the grid to finish fifth, but he he insists Ferrari's approach is to win all of the remaining races.

"There’s always a chance to win," Vettel said. "Starting last in Singapore, a lot of people didn’t know what to expect. We knew where we should go with the pace we had and you never know, with a Safety Car at a different time it could have been a completely different race as well, even better or the other way round.

"So there’s always a lot of things that could happen on Sunday afternoon and that’s ultimately why we are here. That’s my conviction and that’s my feeling whenever I’m standing on the grid, that there’s always a chance to win. For sure the higher up you are, statistically the higher your chances, but I’m convinced there’s always a chance to win.

"We have six races left and our target is to do well at all of them and win at all of them, which is very ambitious, but we will go race by race and see what we can do."

With Vettel's pace in Singapore suggesting he could have challenged for victory, the German says he is not dwelling on the missed opportunity as he focuses on a strong showing this weekend.

"Well, I didn’t start in the top four, that’s the bad news! We could talk about it for longer, in terms of what if, but it doesn’t really matter. But generally we feel good, the atmosphere is good, there’s some bits that we’re here to try and find out if they work. But overall we’re making progress.

"Our season - Singapore maybe is a good reflection - didn’t go according to plan, could have been better, but it doesn’t matter. Arriving here we try to go all out, maximum attack.

"It was a very good place for us last year with the hot conditions. This year it doesn’t feel as hot, at least up until now, but that might change. The asphalt is new, it’s a lot darker as well, which could turn out with higher asphalt temperatures and a different response and reaction to the car with the tyres. A lot of variables that we need to get on top of but hopefully it peaks on Saturday afternoon and Sunday."
