Esteban Gutierrez says an incident with team principal Guenther Steiner in the Haas garage during the Brazilian Grand Prix was simply a case of bad timing.
Steiner was seen grabbing a visibly annoyed Gutierrez by the arm in the team's garage after the Mexican had retired on lap 60. Following the race, Gutierrez explained the cause of his frustration was more unreliability at Haas and that the incident with Steiner was just due to his emotions running high at the time.
"I was very angry about the situation," Gutierrez told F1i. "But I was not angry at anyone, it was just the wrong timing and afterwards we were laughing with each other just about the moment. It looked like there was something going on but not necessarily.
"I don't think it's fair to blame anyone at the moment because we don't know exactly what the problem is. There was an electrical issue and again we missed another opportunity.
"I'm angry at the situation because it's been like this very often in the year. It's not a very nice place to be but we move on, I will never give up."
And Gutierrez says his passion shows how eager he is to finish the season on a high with Haas despite leaving the team at the end of the year.
"Of course, of course. I'm doing my best. Everybody's doing their best. I am professional and I want to give my best, not only for myself but also for the team. This is who I'm racing for now, I still have one more race to go and I think I have always been a person who wants to leave things in a good way and be professional. I'll give my best until the last moment."
