Grosjean set for Andros Trophy outing at Alpe d’Huez

Haas F1 Team ace Romain Grosjean will take part in round three of this year’s Andros Trophy held next weekend (December 16-17) at Alpe d’Huez with series champions DA Racing.

The Frenchman has made regular cameos in the popular ice driving championship with the team since 2009, and has two wins to his name.

Grosjean’s most recent Andros Trophy outing came in 2014 at the same Alpe d’Huez venue, with the Formula One driver securing a podium finish on that occasion.

“The Alpe d’Huez event fits nicely into my winter schedule and it’s one of the closest races from home,” Grosjean said. “It’s always nice to compete under the lights on Friday and Saturday nights. Plus, Alpe d’Huez is where I first turned a wheel in anger on ice in the Andros Trophy.

“I come back to the series for a couple of reasons. First, driving a four-wheel drive Clio Silouhette on ice is sheer pleasure. Then, it’s a great opportunity to meet again with [title contender] Jean-Baptiste Dubourg’s family and share our passion and spend unforgettable moments all together.

“The Andros Trophy is about driving pleasure and outright performance. Of course, everybody is always targeting the best possible results but I have not driven on ice for two years and it’s never easy to take on the experts.

“When I look at DA Racing, which has already won the Trophy with 'JB' Dubourg, I know I can rely on the best team in the business and will make sure to use their advice to put in a strong display.”

Grosjean will not be the only racing star in the Andros Trophy, as the 2016/17 entry list also includes the likes of former grand prix winner Olivier Panis and triple Le Mans 24 Hours and 2012 WEC champion Benoît Tréluyer.
