In the 1960s, the contrast in brightness at the Tunnel exit proved quite tricky for the drivers. And the small bulbs and other lights hanging from the walls did not really help. One can remember that several accidents took place along the port as even the most experienced racers could be blinded by the glaring French Riviera sun.
