F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Singapore GP

Romain Grosjean (P11): 6.5/10
Having secured his race seat at Haas for another season, one might have expected Romain Grosjean to show a boost of confidence and enthusiasm in Singapore. He started well enough on Friday morning when he was a respectable 12th fastest, but then faltered in FP2 and FP3 and ended up firmly eliminated from qualifying at the end of Q1. Embarrassingly he had been only slightly faster than the two Williams drivers, while his team mate successfully made it through to the second round. Grosjean then struggled through a long first stint in Sunday's race, finding himself down in a disappointing 18th place after his pit stop which put him in proximity of George Russell. With Grosjean in a hurry to get on with things, the pair made contact on lap 36 sending the Williams going into the wall at turn 8 and triggering the first safety car of the night. Ironically that rewarded Grosjean with the opportunity to make a second stop and switch to soft tyres, which then powered him through the traffic to finish tantalisingly short of a championship point despite all the turmoil.
