Pierre Gasly (P8, 4 pts): 9/10
Getting booted from Red Bull over the summer was undoubtedly a blow for Pierre Gasly and it's not surprising that the Frenchman has taken a while to get over it. But in Singapore it seemed that he had his mojo back, and moreover was enjoying being back at Toro Rosso and relishing the opportunities it was giving him to race without the crippling pressure of driving for the senior squad. It showed in his performance, too, as he got into the thick of a number of on-track scraps that showed what he can really do in the cockpit and showing precisely the sort of controlled aggression that Dr Marko had been calling for. He had already been faster than team mate Daniil Kvyat all weekend, making it into Q2 on Saturday afternoon and starting from 11th place. He had a steady first half to the race, pitting on lap 32 by which time he was up in third place, and then used his new set of medium tyres to fight his way back up into the points by the finish despite some poorly timed safety car interruptions. "I enjoyed that race so much," he said afterwards: "The last part of the race was really exciting!"
