Max Verstappen (P3, 15 pts): 8/10
Max Verstappen seemed a bit dour this weekend, as hopes of the expected Red Bull victory on the tight and twisty Singapore street circuit evaporated long before the start of the race. It started off well enough on Friday with Verstappen fastest in FP1, but he slid down the order in the subsequent sessions and by qualifying seemed resigned to start no higher than fourth place, which he duly secured. He avoided any complications at the start of the race and maintained position until his pit stop on lap 19. Coming in at the same time as Sebastian Vettel duly allowed him to undercut Lewis Hamilton for third place. After that the top three ran the second half of the race more or less in formation, with Verstappen just having to watch his mirrors to make sure he could fight off any late lunges from Hamilton. In the end it was a proficient, cleanly executed campaign by Verstappen and good to see him back on the podium for the first time since the summer break.
