Fernando Alonso says he is tired of having to field questions about the current performances of Ferrari and Honda.
Alonso drove for the Scuderia from 2010 until 2014 and has been linked with a possible return to the team for 2019.
"I've been answering about Ferrari in 2015 and 2016," Alonso complained to reporters in China.
"After I left Ferrari, every win, every podium they were achieving, you asked me about if I regretted when I left Ferrari."
The two-time world champion subsequently moved to McLaren, where a three-year engine partnership with Honda proved to be fraught with problems.
Honda ended their collaboration with McLaren - and Alonso - at the end of 2017. The Japanese manufacturer is now working with Toro Rosso and had a breakthrough with fourth place in the Bahrain Grand Prix earlier this month.
"Now you are not asking me about Ferrari, you've changed for Toro Rosso!" he said.
"I don't care so much about other teams," he insisted. "They ask me and I don't care too much.
"It was a very nice weekend for them," Alonso noted of Toro Rosso's Bahrain success. "[But] after 18 years in Formula 1, to answer after one good qualifying or one good result from any team makes no sense.
"It's just funny how people get excited about the ex-teams when they are okay," he grumbled.
The Spaniard won his two world championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006. The manufacturer subsequently briefly quit the sport, before buying back its former works team in 2016.
Alonso indicated that he was surprised not to be bombarded with questions about Renault as well, given its recent upturn in performance.
"I won two championships with them and now they are competitive again," he noted.
Alonso's current team McLaren is fourth in the constructors standings and 'best of the rest' after the big three teams, after the first three races of 2018. Renault is just three points behind, while Toro Rosso is some way back in sixth place.
Alonso himself is in sixth place in the drivers standings, tied on points with Renault's Nico Hulkenberg. Both men are four points ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
