Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene says his team needs to improve every aspect of its car to catch Mercedes.
While Mercedes dominated for the second season in a row in 2015, Ferrari emerged as its closest challenger with three victories and second place in the constructors' championship. Having been a distant fourth in 2014, a big part of the turnaround was attributed to an improved power unit but Arrivabene says Ferrari is still lacking in all areas.
"We need to work hard on all of the components on the car, we need to take another step forward with the engine, we need to work on the chassis and also the aero," Arrivabene said. "For us the engine is very important and this year we’ve had a big improvement.
"But the chassis and aero guys were not sleeping so if you want to have the perfect situation, to know the single detail because the devil is in the detail, and to work for 360 degrees. But most importantly we must make sure all of the guys are working together and are helping each other."
Sebastian Vettel took all three of Ferrari's victories this year and says he is encouraged by the progress he has seen ahead of 2016.
"I don’t know what happens behind other people’s closed doors but I know what’s happening in Maranello and it’s very promising," Vettel said. But we have to put the car on the track to see where we are."
