New Red Bull recruit Sergio Sette Câmara will sample Formula One machinery for the first time in his career when he performs a series of demo runs at Motorland Aragon this weekend.
The 17-year-old Brazilian was added to the energy drinks giant’s junior roster at the end of last year and is currently competing in his second European Formula 3 campaign with Motopark.
GPUpdate.net reports that Sette Câmara will drive the RB8, which Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber raced to a championship double in 2012, in the season- opening weekend of the Renault Sport Series and Formula V8 3.5.
Red Bull-backed F1 drivers were a regular feature in the World Series by Renault meetings, having often learned the ropes in the French manufacturer’s single-seaters championships on their ascent to the top flight.
The Austrian company’s young driver programme has proved its credentials over the year, bringing the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat, Max Verstappen, and Carlos Sainz to F1.
Besides Sette Câmara, its 2016 squad includes GP2 Series frontrunner Pierre Gasly, Sette Câmara’s F3 team-mate Niko Kari, and MSA Formula racer Luis Leeds.
